DESCRIPTION

How did a minor Roman military outpost generate the cultural movement known as the Renaissance? This class will trace the growth of Florence from a feisty republic through the rise and eventual dominance of the Medici family, and the city’s long decline even as it continued to lead the way in science, art, and music. Learn about Florence’s exceptional role in welcoming Jews fleeing from Spain and integrating Jewish philosophy into Christian humanism. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.
