ART BEIT MIDRASH: THE PSALMS: Session II

With - Rabbi Zaslow
Shapiro Auditorium, In Person
Time - 7:00 am
End Time - 8:15 pm

DESCRIPTION

Ever want to just yell at God, when it seems as if the world is falling apart? Or reach out and hug God, for all of the joy and beauty in this world? The Psalms (Tehillim) make up the bulk of our daily prayers, oscillating between sadness, joy, anger, and praise. Each chapter of Tehillim offers a glimpse into the human condition and the doubt and awe we experience around God. Through drawing, painting, collaging, and discussion, we will respond to a chapter on Tehillim in each class session. The November sessions will focus on Weekday Tehillim and the February sessions will focus on Shabbat Tehillim. This course is recommended for those looking to deepen their understanding of the weekday/Shabbat prayers, those who are interested in exploring emotions, and those who want to add more art-making to their week. Each session stands alone and is multigenerational – open to B’nai Mitzvah students, teens, and adults of all ages. Registration is required.
