DAVID IN SCULPTURE AND PAINTING AS SEEN BY THE OLD EUROPEAN ARTISTS

Join amazing art historian Nora Hamerman as she presents the Biblical David, seen through the eyes of artists. Four great sculptors, Donatello, Verrocchio, Michelangelo and Bernini portrayed David in his battle with Goliath. The class will show how each artist viewed the subject slightly differently, but also look at paintings by such masters as Castagno, Caravaggio, and Rembrandt and explore how different artists (and poets) approach other moments in David’s life besides the battle with the Philistine giant.
