This film series is presented by Beth El’s Israel Affairs Committee in partnership with the Rabbi Mark G. Loeb Center and is supported by the Irving M. Kolker Fund at Beth El established by the Kolker-Saxon-Hallock Family Foundation.

“HOLY LAND HARDBALL” 83 minutes, In English

Holy Land Hardball is a documentary film about starting a professional baseball league in Israel. It is the story of the founding of the Israel Baseball League. Boston bagel maker Larry Baras, who had no sports management experience, wanted to create a professional baseball league in Israel. He recruited former Jewish major leaguers Art Shamsky, Ken Holtzman and Ron Blomberg as team managers in the Israel Baseball League.
